I got my flu shot today. Ouch.

Have you had yours?

Since new influenza viruses emerge each year, a vaccine must be produced annually to ensure it provides the best possible protection against the types of flu virus in circulation. The production of influenza vaccine is a unique and complex biological process, so annual differences in the manufacturing process can occur.
Based on the World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines, Canada's National Advisory Committee on Immunization recommended this year's influenza vaccine contain an A/New Caledonia-like, an A/Wisconsin-like and a B/Malaysia-like virus strains. There was a delay in getting the appropriate seed strain for the A/Wisconsin strain to manufacturers, as well as distribution from the WHO of kits to test the content and strength of the vaccine. All of these factors have led to a later delivery date for vaccine.

Hi Carmen! Yup, you bet I got my Flu shot. I was off work for the first 7 months of 2006 after my shoulder surgery, so I can't afford to be off any more with the Flu. Cost me $30.00 to get the shot here in Texas. Was it covered by B.C. Med for you?

I feel very fortunate and guilty to say YES it was covered. Covered because of my chronic health conditions plus the meds I'm on that suppress the immune system. Don't want to get killed by the flu

I had flu a few years ago before the RA got so advanced and I near thought i would die it hit me so hard. A flu shot a real good idea!

Glad you got yours, sad you had to pay for it, or that anyone has to, though.

By the way Master SapperMan ... what mischief have you been up to with my address??? Suddenly my mailbox is getting Christmas cards for the last week and a half ............. from MLU folks!!!!!! Are you to blame for instigating this? If not you, I will find out somehow, some way, some day by all the powers in me, just WHO is the (nice) culprit ... Master Sunray denies any involvement.

Yes, Ma Yappy has been infected with an MLU Social Disease called MLU-CS (MLU-Christmas Spirit) Happily, there are NO vacines that prevent the spread of this this infection to her mailbox and her home. It's also contageous ... she now has symptoms of MLU-CS and is showing strong signs that she will soon be spreading it around to others

Had the flu shot at a clinic that came to our shop. Most of the 19 guys in the shop had the shot. Only one minor mishap, our front end lad is afraid on needles. LOL

No pain at all. little stiff the following day but no big deal
