Having made most of The Caldwell& Caldwell bashes ,missing only #3 I think, due to family priorities(July first Moving day ,the annual event in Montreal when my #2 daughter was doing her masters degree at McGill) and this one due to family priorities, being put on baby watch by that # 2 daughter again,I would encourage anyone within a 2 thousand mile radius, beyond if you can make it to attend the CC6 performance..
It is an event beyond description, with hospitality, great friends, like and kindred spirits and great vehicles and like souls and last but absolutely not least the food....If you can only make one event this year let this be the one..
Jif may not be able to contact you for a while but he will be attending..Put him down for a T shirt..size skinny..
I had breakfast with him this morning and that was part of our discussion..I believe he already has his room booked at Camp Neufeld...

Default CC 6 next weekend

Just a reminder that CC#6 is fast approaching. Also a note that we will not have any t shirts available at the event as we did not meet the minimum order in time. However if there is enough interest we may get a batch done after the event, and get them sent out to those interested.
It looks like we will have another great crowd and we look forward to another great event.
We hope to see you next weekend in Chatsworth !!!

Jeff and Dan
The good news for me this Fathers Day is that Janet let me off the hook for a birthday party next Sunday in Kitchener. Now I can cut the grass etc. on Sunday and attend your bash on Saturday.
At this point it looks like I will have the pleasure of a Mr. Winnington Ball AKA Jiff as my co pilot/ navigator. I will be acting as his batman for the day. Looking forward to seeing you all on Saturday. Please tell me that the old curmudgeon from Ottawa will only be there on Sunday .
Cheers,
Barry

Barry...
If I am the Ottawa "Old curmudgeon" that you are refering to,I resemble that remark!!
And is your little bait breath friend going with you also..??
Or is he chowing down on some of those awful PEI lobsters and that unGodly Moose head beer...?
And if this e-mail sounds like sour grapes...it is...because of my addled nephew in Edmonton, the thoughtless whelp, who is getting hitched in July , has triggered a family reunion..
So I will miss CC6,my favourite gather up...And then there is my own flesh and blood, daughter number two,who while doing her masters at McGill had moving day on the 1 July ,which is the official moving day for everyone in PQ,pressed me into service to drive the cube van from Ottawa into the abyss of Montreal ,causing a miss at CC3....and now the same daughter number two ,married these past six year has decieded she must bear my grandchild in August...putting the kybosh on my annual Coe Hill excursion, and possible BBB2 ..the official Eastern Ontario-Western Quebec CMP gather up..
So yes..I'm bitter and twisted that I will miss all the fun this summer with the grease and the rust and the oil,the burning smell of clutch and the grinding of the old crash box and all the good friends I have met over the years..
All I can hope for is lots of pictures and storys on MLU..
and you have a great summer...

Default T-shirt

Further to Barry's comment that we are infiltrating the AO on our own, put me down for a t-shirt for sure. I will settle on-site Saturday.

Hi Alex
Sorry to hear we will not be seeing you as it is always a treat to talk to seniors. Once you get past the drooling and the spittle you guys usually have some interesting stories.
As for bait breath Gough he should be arriving in PEI by Saturday.
Its a shame you will miss both CC6 and Coehill. At least you get a bit of a fix with your Ottawa Rotters. In Castleton we only get CMP company when the Holland boys arrive in the fall. Maybe if you have one of your world famous gatherings on a Friday night Gough and I could attend. I will try to take a few snaps for you so you can see what you missed.
Cheers,
Barry

No wonder I never learned some of those words in school German...
Just a reader on the Adventures of Emil Tishbien....and his grandmother..
And some of the words I did learn was on the Reeperbahn...in Hamburg...

Just to confirm, I WILL have Red Ensigns at CC6 for anyone who wants them, plus a backup supply of stickers should Chris run out.

See you Saturday!

Default I'm Back....

.... from a day at CC6. Barry Churcher and I drove up this morning through the wonderful green of rural Ontario and spent the day with the lads. It was a very nice gathering of the like-minded under pleasant skies - completely relaxed as such a gathering of friends should be. There weren't too many vehicles, but then again, the Caldwells this year emphasized getting the people out even if they had to drive themselves in civvie vehicles (with so many projects so close to completion here in Ontario, the next two years should see a resurgence of MVs at events like this).

Those that were there did take a meandering tour through some of the back roads around the Caldwell property - it was good to see and hear a couple of 15 cwts rolling under their own steam!

The Caldwells did an outstanding job (as has come to be expected) and I tip my hat to their tireless efforts. Lunch and dinner was cheap and outstanding fare, with no little credit going to the Caldwell ladies! After the trucks were safely abed cold bottles of some of Canada's finest brews materialised from everywhere to cap off the afternoon. Twinings English Breakfast Tea all day for this laddie, though, and well-appreciated!

Pics will start to be posted tomorrow I'm sure, with more after that.

All in all, an outstanding day. Thanks again to the Caldwell clan for an enduring experience.

PS: A special thanks from me to Bob Carriere and Rob Clarke (hosts of the world-famous BB-series of events in eastern Ontario) for their surprise presentation of my personalised Ottawa Rotters 'MLU SUNRAY' cap ( ). I would have forgiven them if they had had the foresight to present Jessie underneath it at the same time, but alas...

You hit the nail on the head, Bob. They truly are Metal Mistresses (and the nickname for my 45 HUP by pure chance...). I dragged the wife and kid down from the warm climes of Ottawa to see first hand that she is not the only CMP widow.

A tip of the Rotters hat to Dan and Jeff for their outstanding efforts. I hope we see some of them southern boys at Hammond this August!
