| C15 Wheel Cylinders

We have to replace or rebuild the wheel cylinders for our 1944 C15. Is it possible to buy replacement cylinders or kits to rebuild them. |

I'll assume you mean a C15A? If so, the cylinders are just standard Ford wheel cylinders of the time. Rock Auto has the best deal for the cylinders, although for the Master Cylinder you are in for a little more work. That cylinder is a hard one to find, so you will likely have to have the cylinder sleeved and a rebuild kit installed. If you had a Ford instead of a Chev, then the master cylinder would have been easy. Part numbers for the Ford Cylinders (as used on the Chev 4 wheel drive) are: Raybestos WC4571 or a little cheaper is the W4511 (Centric) run between $32.54 and $34.97 each Cdn from Rock auto. Napa will charge you $70.55 retail, or approx 43.33 trade price. WC4511 will run you $48.33 Cdn from Rock auto. If you go to your NAPA it will be retail $130.28/trade price approx $80 each. Replacing or rebuilding wheel cylinders have never been a hard decision for me. I will take new ones whenever they are available. |

Hi Ed If you need the master rebuilt try www.johnstuartpowerbrake.com/ Located in Stoney Creek They have a very high reputation with car collectors, military vehicle collection, etc. Once the master is resleeved in SS they are good for a life time. He will also resleeve wheel cylinders..... definitely more expensive than new ones but the SS job will last a life time. Good luck Bob C

| Sleeve the cylinders it's a forever fix

Hi Edwin I agree whole heartily with Bob and Rob about going the route of having the brake and master sleeved. I'm just finishing a brake job on my C60S which was restored in 1990 using brass sleeved cylinders. All that had to be replace was the rubber parts. Cheers Phil
