Default Welcome

Gday Andy,

My name is matt baker i live in ipswich and i to own a C15A, i have recently removed the front cylinders from my blitz for resleeving, while the front hubs were off i thouroghly cleaned the bearings and CV joints and then inspected for servicability i found them to be in fair condition so i regreased and thru back in.

Quite a few years ago i had a blitz front wheel bearing seize up on me on the road not a very pleasant experience, so if you have the finances i would suggest that you replace all of your wheel bearings that way once their done you have peace of mind if you intend on driving long distances.

Where abouts in Brissy are you if you need a hand or a trained eye i can possibly give you a hand at some time, send me P.M.

Cheers matt baker

Default Bearings should be relatively easy to find.

Hi Andy

Welcome to the wonderful world of CMPs. Mat has a good point about really cleaning and checking the wheel bearings. What you should be pleasantly surprised about is that the numbers on the bearings are still in use and relatively easy to get through a larger bearing house. Do some checking on line first to find out what the price is. Some of the auto/truck parts places have a strange idea of what their markup should be. When you can probably buy from the same wholesaler they would use.

Having the brake cylinders sleeved is the only way to go, the sleeve cylinders will out live NOS parts many times over. Have some sleeved cylinder on my HUP that are now going on 25 years just had to replace the rubber cups and boots, but the bores have no visible wear or pitting.

Cheers Phil

Default Bearings & Brakes

Hi Andy - welcome to the mad world of Blitzs. I built a Chevrolet Blitz half-track, Project Phoenix, and during the course of that build encompassed the following.

Bearings - great supplier and know what they are talking about.

Simmos Industrial Supplies
PO Box 315 Beaudesert Qld 4285
Michelle Dyson – partner (does she know her stuff)
(07) 5541-0533
32 Telemon Street
Beaudesert Qld 4285

I had the master cylinder and four slave cylinders refurbished, new brake shoes on all four drums, brake hose and lines all for about $820. Will never have to look at the brakes again. My supplier also rebuilds the brake booster and he is about the only one in the country that does it.

Bob

Thanks for the suppliers details, luckily my shoes are good so should keep cost down a bit, is this the supplier for bearings and brakes or just the bearings ?
cheers
Andy
