Hi Keith,
Now that the rubber gearshift boots are again produced here's another two rubber parts that might be worth considering putting into production. Part No. 70 18078: Retainer- shock absorber grease- rubber Part No. 81T 3332A: Retainer- Drag link grease- rubber I don't know if these are generic to other Ford vehicles but have never seen them on the usual Ford repro parts websites. I have a couple NOS drag link seals to supply as a sample but the NOS shock absorber seal is the only one I have and I took it off the truck for the photo. I have however made accurate measurements of it before putting it back on the truck. It would be a lot easier to produce the dies for them than the gearshift boot and as 6 are required for the shock absorbers and 2 for the drag link a large volume would probably be required to be produced. If they are available already someone probably can inform me but I've had no luck finding them. Food for though anyway as hundreds would be required worldwide for our CMP truck enthusiasts. Cheers,

Hi Beau,
Just looked at the earlier "Ford Illustrated Army Parts Catalogue 1940-1941". It lists the same part numbers for all models. See attached. My dedicated 1943 F15-A Ford Parts Manual list the same numbers. That 1940-1941 Parts manual is available on a CD on EBay for $30. Very handy reference even for the later models. I got it just a few weeks ago. Cheers,

Jaques, 81T 3332 A appears in the 41 to 47 Ford commercial Chassis parts Catalogue.
There is also a 70C 18078. I would think the 3332 distorts to suit the radius it sits against, and so, suits all.

Hi Beau,
Again, referring to the 1940-1941 Parts Catalogue: Part No. *CO1QF 3305 Tube- Steering gear drag link. It is shown to be the designated part number for all 4 x 4 models. There is a separate part number for the drag link tube for model F8 and model F15 so it is likely they are of smaller diameter. Drag link tubes for all models have the * in front of the part number indicating the part is unique to CMP vehicles. Of course, parts lists have been wrong in the past. And so have I. So going back to the original proposition if someone reproduced the rubber grease retainers they would fit 90% of the Ford CMP trucks still in existence. Cheers

Very interesting, thanks Jacques.
This could be something to look into, although as with the gearshift boots there's a considerable upfront investment which in the case of the boots was substantial.
