Thank you Kevin for the tank names.
The only problem I have is with the ammo tanks. In the LdSH Regimental history it states that the ammo tanks were old Stuart Vs (M3A3) that were used by the recce troop in Italy. When LdSH moved to NWE in March 1945 the recce troop’s M3A3 were replaced by M5A1s (Stuart VI). Seven of the old recce tanks were retained and converted to ammo carriers. Dose anyone know it the old Stuarts kept their names from the recce troop, or were they given new names with the old names being transferred to the new M5A1s? Here is a photo from the Regimental history showing two of the ammo carriers.

Thanks John,
I didn't have an actual date for the names so I was unsure of the tank types, hence the question. Can you make out the WD on that Ammo carrier? It would be another off the list. Cheers Kevin |

Kevin,
I noticed in your list of tank names for HQ in the 5TH Brigade you have a M5A1 Stuart "Toronto". Years ago, talking to the late Bill Gregg, he mentioned that during the restoration of his M5A1 they uncovered the name Toronto. I wonder if this is the same vehicle, now residing, I believe, in Shilo, Manitoba. Perry |

WOW!!
Such wonderful Information will help me greatly on my future model Projects. I know this is a Complication of the 5th CAD. But I was wondering if there is anywhere I can find a list similar to this for the Canadian Grenadier Guards or Gov Gen Horse Guards. Thank you so much in advance I have been looking and asking around and have drawn nothing but 3 of for names. APE, AMAZE, Bristle and Beacon for GGHG and nothing for CGG or their unique numbering system I am still trying to figure that out. I think it is similar to the 28th Armoured Regiment (The British Columbia Regiment) but I don't know what their numbers mean. and how they were marked on the Tanks. So any guidance would be great. Respectfully. Euge |
