Not true. Some variants had a ford truck type radiator expansion tank mounted on the armoured rad cover. I have one out in the shed somewhere. I think it was from the mortar variant, but I would have to check to be sure.

Default Over flow tank

Never seen one on a Mk1 here. Water comes out from the pressure cap through the short rubber hose into an elbow, and down a copper pipe mounted in the engine cover. from there I believe it drops into a small funnel ended pipe, which runs the surplus out of the hull.

Hi all, Thanks for the replies, I am going to fit an expansion tank to mine as it makes sense too. Can you still get the radiator thermostatic cap gasket kits for the carrier, are they the same for a cmp truck?. There appers to be several gaskets required for the cap assembly, If there is a kit you can buy, if so great, it will save me tracking down every gasket.

thanks kevin.
