2pdr Portees in use to 1943
Contrary to popular belief the 2 pdr Portee did not go out of use in British Army service in North Africa, as I have read on several occasions. In fact it soldiered on until at least 1943, as IWM photo NA4467, shows such a vehicle in Sicily in July 1943. The marking on the portee are not visible but I understand that the 50th (Northumbrian) Division used such vehicles in Sicily.
