That most recent carrier is a different vehicle from the earlier one that had apparently sold. I've traded some parts and lots of information going both ways with the owner who is in the UK. His T-16 hull serial number was 100 off from mine and this is the specifics I had for both of our vehicles:
Name S/N Lift Hooks Date Registration Gordon 5399 FS 5488 1-44 TD 97377 Bledsoe 5498 FS 5597 1-44 T 286476 I'm really surprised to see him selling it, although I guess things do come up in peoples lives that can force a change. He had a lot of work into restoration as of a year ago and the armor was complete.

You are right, I remember it now, the first one is the same as the one pictured below. This picture dates back to 2005, at that time it was owned by a man in Lincoln. It was dated 30/10/43 and had been in use as a playground attribute - note the walk-through openings cut in the rear and bulkhead. H.

Neil I think you're under selling yourself. Some WD motorcycles are changing hands for that money. Also I've seen Carrier restoration projects for not much less.
I'm not trying to inflate the value! I'm not parting with mine. Ron |

i may be wrong but the T16 that had been in the play ground was owned by Clive Hughes, it was offered to me a couple years back for £4500 no internals or engine. still got the pics of it from then with the tarp over it and the track stacked up in the back

as per title folks, i really like the T16 but alas dont have 20K+ otherwise i would snap it up.
the bren carrier has been on here before I think, cant recall if it was made by sentinel wagon or if there was some issue i cant find the thread but it looks like the same carrier. I know one chap but have only met him once and not technically affiliated etc etc. here is the link http://www.milweb.net/classifieds.php?type=1 Quote:

Hi Richie,
This is not my sentinal hull, not selling that at the moment. this is a Canadian lower hull, it still has the lower hull number visable on the rear angle iron. it has no rot and needs most of the top armour making apart from the spare gunners and drivers armour which has been temporaly bolted on. it was made to look like a captured "bren carrier" for our desert display at the war and peace show this year (are we going to see you there next yea ?). glad to see you are progressing with your project. I have just heard from a relaible scource that the chap should be given a wide birth, the 25k price bracket for unrestored T16 would echo this, bearing in mind Kevin weatcroft had two hulls for sale last year for 4500 GBP.......mind they were in super poor state and were empty within (but the hulls were ok) also got offred another T16 complete 14miles on clock with seized engine for 9K.... this was only just last year.... I shall not name my scource but that person has had direct dealings with the seller in the past. i think pending on what comes with Shauns his would be the better deal, mind me being me i would be a hagglin
![]() EDIT: i should clarify that i have had no dealings with this chap and i can only take comments on face value, those that have dealt with the chap are members on this forum and i would leave it to them to comment if they wish...

The slope on the front hull makes me think there is more knee room for the driver. Can anyone with 'seat time' confirm?

There is lots of room for knees and heavier set people up front in both positions on a T-16. Plus steering is with tiller bars so you don't have a vertical wheel in your chest taking up space as on other types of carriers.
Nuts and bolts are all modern fine or coarse thread so even grade 8 replacements are easy to source and affordable. And most of the engine, tranny and brake parts are readily available, having been used for 20+ years on common commercial Ford vehicles. Some of the reasons I went that route instead of getting a more traditional British/Canadian Mk I or Mk II pattern. Link below is the MLU thread where I have a series of photos of my vehicle being restored so you can see the space available if you browse through them. http://www.mapleleafup.org/forums/showthread.php?t=9136

i had a look at the two t16's a couple of months ago and they were pretty bad, as in really really bad, but if that's all that's available then you just have to bite the bullet sometimes and make the most of what you've got, i told the seller i'd have them but was waiting for a bit of cash to come through from a job and that if anyone else came along with the money in the meantime then he was under no obligation to hold them for me, they both went off the market for a while and now they're back on again with the same seller but this time for £7.5k and £4.5k. so gone up by £3.5k in two months

Yup, a fantastic restoration, I read through the lot. The Flat head V8 looked spot on.

It really shows you that most of these rusted hulks can be brought back to life so if you’re on a budget like I was, you don't necessarily need to find a higher priced project with good paint on it for a starting point.

Interesting pics Martyn. The rubber on those roadwheels and track adjuster wheels are a dream compared to anything I have found over here...
And the blackberries remind me of a cubby house we had when I was a kid. In the middle of the blackberries was a ford prefect utility which we converted into our clubhouse with fresh blackberries as our on-site rations. ![]() Cheers Phill

I assume you mean that they have the arms on the top of the adjustable idler bracket, that hold the adjustment , until the nuts are tightened.

Hi Richie,
Thanks for pointing out the advert for the carrier (you will be wanting a commission at this rate he he) ![]() The photo shows the vehicle as it was displaed at the war and peace show last year as a knocked out captured vehicle using the MK 2 hull. The idea is to fit the early pannels to the MK2 frame. the suspenion units i have are dated 1940, as well as a new old stock british rear axle. i have amassed all the main components to build a driving vehicle and things like the engine and gearbox are ready to fit. all the front armour correct for the early Bren. The list of parts go on. The only thing i don't have is time to put it together, as you know i have a yard full of wagons and the cromwell is calling me to start the rebuild so this is a project that can go. So yes you are right it is a MK2 hull in the photo but i do have the early hull as well. i hope that has answered a few questions for you. TTFN Shaun |

I have decided that I need to work on the Stag (T17E1) instead of the T16 so - I need to find a home for my T16 project. (ACTUALLY, I NEED THE SPACE TO BRING THE T17E1 INTO THE SHOP AND THE SPACE CURRENTLY OCCUPED BY THE T16 IS THAT SPACE!!!!) I have redone the motor and reinstalled it in the chassis. Every part for the correct T16 back to Ford condition for WWII mfg is included. Even the correct horizonal barred siren. The fuel tanks and the fuel tank boxs and tool boxes are repro'ed and ready to go and are included. Includes all the Piat, Enfield, and Bren brackets and the 2" mortar bracket as well. This Universal Carrier is ready to be bolted back together......I have the pictures of all the parts included. Rod Shaver - the guy that has the carrier parts int he States knows what I have and I manufactured manyof the missing Universal Carrier parts for him and for me....602-421-0858. If I start bolting it back together, I will begin to raise the price and maybe singificantly since a completed UC is worth a lot more than I am asking for this bolt-together project. There are extra track pins included. A few extra track sections also included. Can transport a reasonable distance for diesel and motel costs.
