They are just a standard housing. If extra holes had to be drilled and tapped, then your housing would be a later model one
As I have mentioned before, many internal parts are the same as the WC series WWII Dodge box (but not the input, and output shafts)

Henry Ford made it easy , All Bren Carriers had Ford flathead V8 engines, Trannys, Axels, wheel hubs, steering boxes, etc. it's like a Steel ratrod. Aidan
