Default ever say good bye to an old friend.......

...only to be reunited ?? today i got the chance to hang with Scotty, Bill, and met Jason Meade and Darrell Zinck for the first time. as i was standing in the parking lot at the Oromocto mall and suddenly (imho) the best M151a2 in the country appears (my old friend) . the pictures posted in this thread of the finished product don't do it justice..not by a long shot!! i've seen lots of great looking mv's, but scotty has really outdone himself!!! when i had it forsale there were people trying to buy it to make it into a swamp buggy. i refused to sell it to them because i wanted it to go to a person that would treat it weth the care it deserved....today proves that i was right...and that doesn't happen too often..just ask my wife!!!

It is a little humbling parking next to a fully functioning 1942 Diamond T Wrecker . I'm glad you came up today, and thanks for the kind words on the project. I know it wasn't easy for you to part with some of your MVs, so it was nice to get you out for a drive in the MUTT now that its all done. It will be enjoying sunny drives and meticulous maintenance for the rest of its days, and the door is always open to you.

Default A couple years later....

I thought it would be appropriate to update this thread with some pics of a run yesterday with Steve H (spinnerhawken) who has completed getting his former Airborne Regt TOW Launcher M151A2 on the road.

It started out with Steve topping off his front while I waited impatiently:

Then as we hopped in to take off, what I thought was a flooded engine was a blown Ignition Coil in mine:

No harm, no foul. Some quick diagnostics and we were on our way for a nice cruise of the Ottawa South back country roads:

Not too often are there multiple M151A2 convoys on the road in Canada these days

Looking forward to next year!

Ok, so in my defence, I was tired… just kidding.
I can image it didn’t instill confidence in Scotty to pull up to see me laying underneath my rig prior to a long run. It was one of the longer runs that my M151 has been on and it handled it really well. There were some minor issues with it but a great way to close out the session.
… and now I have a bunch of new pictures to get me through the long winter months!

I have to admit your pictures got in my head. My M151A2 is hors de combat waiting for the gas tank to be re-recoated, and that was on my mind as I looked at your shots. But last night I actually had a dream about driving mine without the gas tank! I think I was channelling Gunner Mike's carrier boat gas tank-theme, because in my drowsiness the Jeep's fuel tank was a 500ml water bottle of gasoline with the pickup line poked in the top.
