Stuart,
Was that a shot at me for trucking vehicles up? ![]() I truck vehicles around to lessen road miles and to speed the process up. ![]() Bear in mind what you see me bring for the most part does not belong to me but for the collection for whom I work ![]() I have however purchased an MV recently and Santa brought me a trailer, so look out! ![]() R |

I put a request in quite some time ago to join the forum. How long does it usually take to get a response?

It is no secret that the Iltis is regarded as the pariah of the Canadian Forces military vehicle fleet. Or, is that just because the LSVW hasn't ( and probably never will be ) released into public ownership.I think Stuart is saying that some Iltis have been restored as a tribute to a vehicle that served for many years and in war zones. Love it or hate it, is it not worthy of that respect. Yeah, yeah, I know it wasn't designed for the job, some body else picked it and you got stuck with it!
Remember the Sherman is a great icon and was referred to as a Tommy Cooker and a Ronson, and who wouldn't want one of those? I have restored several Iltis and this is the one I did for myself. Yes they can be rust buckets, a NOS body certainly eliminates that problem. |

There is no comparison between the Iltis and the LSVW...now there is a lemon so rotten you can't even make lemon aid. Compared to an LSVW, an Iltis is a rolls royce.

Yes Stuart..many thanks for help on what was a pretty miserable day. Still the Iltii all seemed to run very well thank you on the trip down and back.--at a very reasonable speed..fie on the iltii naysayers....
I hope they repeat that event in Kingston..in spite of predicted rain..which was accurate.. a pretty good turnout of vehicles and a couple of interesting collections..although tourists were kept away sadly... now if I could just get a nice antenna.....

Granted, I haven't attended an HMV or other auto event since the fall of 2012, I still managed to put over 1000 miles on my M151A2 driving here in the NCR between May and Oct this year.
My M151 is akin to another mans motorcycle, i.e. its my fair weather toy. If that happens to coincide with an event, great. If not, no harm to foul, as I still enjoy the hell out of it. I suspect many others roll like this as well. As far as driving an HMV from city to city for an event... Will my M151A2 survive a road trip from Kingston to Ottawa, most definitely. Do I feel like subjecting myself to it? Not really. I've already got that t-shirt for driving MVs (Iltis included) all over this country (and others) in my day job ![]() EDIT, as this memory just popped into my mind. A Reservist who volunteered to deploy with my Unit years ago once told me and a few others that "Remember, your job is my hobby". In a sense, this kind of applies here ![]()

Hello.
I haven't been a part of this forum for some time and a CGN member reminded me of MLU. The Iltisforum is no longer around. Didn't surprise me that it went, as participation was almost nil. I started it so that owners, Canadian mainly, could participate on more "modern" style forum, rather than a running Email thread. It was also nice having a Tapatalk accessible forum too. I guess I stepped on some influential Iltis toes! ![]() ![]() I moved on to another MV and while members helped keep it running for one extension, I wasn't going to pay for it myself and no one could keep it up. The domain name iltisforum.com is available of anyone wants it. ![]() |
