Also thought I would remind you to send in your entry for Corowa. This goes to others as well if you haven't entered. Only another 28 days to do so.

you should be down at Queenscliff for the Hot Rod show. Dad is taking the Ford blitz Ambulance along. Actually he is going in to see Fletch from 'Classic Restos'

Wow I don't envy that, driving a Blitz when it's going to be 40+ degrees tomorrow. Although it may be a touch cooler down on the coast there.

When I spoke to Fletch during the week he was going to try and get some filming done tonight of the Rod Run and a few other sections of his show so he doesn't need to spend too much time there tomorrow. He was hoping that there might be a person who could hold the umbrella and provide him with drinks. I did suggest to mum and dad that one of them could help however if it is that hot they will stay home and keep cool.

Likewise Ryan. Terrific little piece of paradise you have there as well...

See you at Corowa!

Default 2014

What a year. The shed hasn't seen me in 6 months.
I damaged my back in early March chopping firewood for the coming winter. At the time I thought it was just a bit sore and didn't think much of it. Saw a local quack a few times who said " I see plenty of farmers like you. You'll be right in a week or so". Went to work a put up with the pain.
It got a bit worse, so I stopped working and saw another doctor who put me on some pain relief. Starting seeing a physio too who put me onto an exercise plan (the wrong plan now looking back) and was now off work full time due to constant nerve pain in my legs and lower back.
Stopped the physio, increased my meds, had a CT guided injection into the back ( which worked a treat....for two days ) and an MRI and after a long wait saw a specialist in melbourne.
To put it simply I was buggered. Prolapsed discs in my back now had me bed ridden and in constant pain. The specialist classed me as a CAT A patient - needing surgery within 30 days but he wanted me in quicker and I was on the table at Royal Melbourne in 7 days. When I woke up in recovery my legs felt normal again.
It's been 8 weeks since my surgery, I hope to back at work within the next 3 weeks and the shed now gets visits from me as I sweep and clean 6 months of dust etc.
So:
ALWAYS LISTEN TO YOUR BODY AND STOP IF YOU START GETTING SORE.
ALWAYS GET A SECOND DOCTORS OPINION IF YOUR NOT HAPPY WITH THE FIRST.
And the Royal Melbourne is a great hospital.
So be careful out there people.

And I'm still on the hunt for a F15 gearbox to chassis adaptor plate please.

Default Back trouble

Boy, you've had some problems!

Sorry to hear about your back - sometimes the medicos just get it wrong or you happen to get the wrong one. My brother had constant pain for a couple of years, went through the same processes as you through doctors and physiotherapy. Turns out he has multiple myeloma, a bone cancer, and has since had a harrowing time dealing with it.

So I certainly agree with keeping on trying until you get the right answer!

On the other part, great to hear you're back on your feet and getting back into your project.

Ryan sorry to hear you had that much trouble. My spine took three doctors to find the problem so I agree with you about getting second opinions.
