Default side markers and conduit

Looking in the parts book for 11 and 12 cab no reference number for the conduit ? My 12 cab has the conduit and large rubber housing side and tail lamps and not the smaller metal cab 13 style lights .

Smile Conduit

I reckon I've seen those conduits on the under side of the guards, too...

Default Interesting

It's interesting they don't appear in the parts book. The ones I've seen here have had cab 13 style pinspots fitted (possibly retrofitted).

Incidentally if anyone needs the early type Rubber ones I have a few available new old stock. Please PM me for details.

Default Question for Gordons....

In the factory Chevrolet picture........

Did you noticed that there appears to be NO screens on the two front air vents......

...and there is a 5/8 steel rod brace missing which should be behind the radiator spring guard........ the missing rod runs parallel to the radiator guard upper horizontal pipe..... I was sure that steel rod was on all cab 11 and cab 12.

Wondering if that picture is not a very early cab 12 with some mods yet to be scheduled in the assembly process.

Cheers

Default Good spotting Bob

Hi Bob

Yup that bar and the one behind the radiator on the Pattern 12 I think had to be added to keep the front fenders flexing and trying to tear the radiator apart.

Do the Pat 11 have this bar as well?

Ever notice that the screens on all the Chevy Pat 11 & 12 are concave, wonder if they were built that way or just got the way the first time a mechanic climbed up and rested is knee on the brush guard to look under the hood? Your knee just naturally goes to that spot.

Cheers Phil

Default Raise the bar.......

From the few cab 11 I have seen, including mine, they all had the extra bar to keep the fenders from flying off..... so much so that the Brits call them wings.....

As to the screen for the air vent....
I have a set of NOS that are flat......

I suspect that because Chev are so fast the rushing air eventually deflects the screen to a concave shape.....

The cab 12 also had an additional brace bar under the hood above the radiator fan....... I chose to instal one on my cab 11 has it really pulls the side together nicely....... I repro-ed one from a cab 12 and it fits nicely...... should prevent the droopy eye looks of the fenders.

Cheers
