I feel that I need to correct this to "A Ford Tool" used also on carriers, but used on a range of ford axles. The "BB" is not carrier specific.

I believe the BB refers to 1932 as the year of introduction to that part.

If you do a bit of research on the net, or even on the front section of the parts books, there were a couple of parts numbering systems in the 30s. The first two to 5 digits of a Ford part number (which is then followed by a group number then possibly a revision letter) can tell a lot about when a part was introduced and what it was originally produced for. |
