It is many years since I have had those pipes off, but the rubber hose joins a long pipe and a short pipe together so there is a little flex in the pipe to cope with any slight misalignment or vibration issue which could cause a failure.
The hoses have thin ferrules on the ends and are crimped. A suitable crimper could be machined up easily. These ferrules were often used on fuel pipes, but failing that you could use small hose clips of the type with screw and nut. The hose would be available as an oil proof rubber. I would not trust old stock as the rubber may have hardened.
