Oh, it gets worse. Bizzaro worse. The mag limits in Canada (save those scant exemptions) are 5 rounds for a long guns. That would, to any reasonable person, mean that if a mag was mean to fit a 7.62 rifle and the mag held five 7.62 rounds you would be legal. So far so good. But, if you poured little bitty .22 rounds into a five round 7.62 mag you could perhaps fit 20-30 of them in like grains of rice. True, the firearm in question is a 7.62 and could do nothing with .22 LR rounds. But, in that exact moment you would be a criminal because you would be in possession of a prohibited 'high capacity' magazine with over 5 rounds in it. Jail time.

Here in Canada our new baby prime minister just gave the police free reign to make decisions like this...and they are.

Well that is about policy, not law, and it should fail in court.

A couple of d.jays were talking about some new survey that was out, about the freedom we have in various countries.
Citizens of the land of the free and the brave never made it into the top 15.
Canada topped the list as the most free people on earth. New Zealand was second. I think Norway and Denmark followed.

The police commisioner here tried to re-classify some firearms issues. The police ran a big campaign. It cost a lot of money. A gun shop owner took the case to court and had the commisioners plan thrown out.
What he needed to do was abide by the law. It probably applies in Canada as well.

Unfortunately today we have politicians who don't have a good grasp of the law, or the language, and we end up with laws on the statute books that are not well thought out. These then go on to be expensively tested in court. Law by affordability.

So, If you build your self a secure store room for your ammunition, and put 1000 rounds in it,.... and call it a magazine. Are you in trouble again?
