I often will use the quote feature, especially on a thread that starts to get very involved or else meanders a bit, as MLU threads often do. The advantage to the quote is that there is no confusion as to which post the reply is to. I have seen threads where confusion and sometimes even hurt feelings happen because of the lack of the quote.
I will often shorten the quote to just the relevant part that I am replying to. I like the quotes. |

I actually agree (mostly) with both of the above.
Quoting a specific point or phrase can do wonders for clarity, while quoting complete posts (which may have quoted other replies in turn) rarely helps. As with so many things in life, a little common sense goes a long way. |
