Just checked and I don't have a photo of the engine by of my old C15A, however I checked the well known factory photos (below) and there is certainly no gutter shown there.
Perhaps it was a field modification by CREME or maybe only REME just on trucks issued to the British, it was a pain really as it used to interfere with the hood hinges which made me think it was an addition rather than a factory fit but then 11 and 12 cabs are such a dogs breakfast of drawing board design changes and on line modifications that you can never be sure Pete
