Default ID Number and Info Required

Hi....as per my many posts on this site, I have been restoring a 67' CDN2 for the last several months even though it has gone through an amateur restoration from 2009 to 2011. Thanks to Rob, Wayne and Terry as well as many others for their valuable help and input.
The frame or ID number for this jeep is 67-08171....can anyone tell me the date of delivery in 67' and where it was delivered too as well as any other info?

As usual, much appreciated!

Your M38A1CDN2 s/n 7105-97438 CFR 67-08171 ECC 121201 was disposed out of CFB Petawawa in May 1980.

That is a very early release. Usually it was only accident vehicles that were released that early. Do you have the listing of the holding codes prior to disposal Ed?

I have checked and discovered that it was - DISPOSAL THROUGH VEHICLE FLEET REMARKETING SERVICES (UNSCHEDULED ATTRITION - NDHQ CONTROLLED).

If you have the data where it shows the holding units, it will show a two letter code such as MA. The codes will tell you a lot about the vehicle. If the vehicle had an accident of some major mechanical failures which exceeded it's repair expenditure limit, they would quite often be issued the code for controlled cannibalization. After a time they would get either sold or scrapped, depending on how much of the Jeep remained.

Gentlemen....I really appreciate the response and history....although if you have more it would be great. I get stopped a lot here north of Toronto and many ask about its history of which I have very little info. As previously mentioned in this forum, I purchased it from a retired CFB Petawawa mechanic early this year. He provided me with several dozen pics of the rebuild process as well as the jeep upon salvaging from the Petawawa yard? The jeep looks very rough, rusty, holed and lightly dented (in all the expected places) but not showing any accidents. All or most of the parts appear to be on the jeep including the trans & motor. If I were able to post pictures on this forum I would of the jeep before and after the rebuild by him (for sale to third party kind of rebuild)and now myself.

Again, many thanks for the response Rob and Ed....if you have more info please post.

Best regards,

lesk
