The tubes are disposable, and when empty are not considered a weapon. Once was the day you would find piles of them at the base dump. But things have tightened up a bit since then, and nowadays the military may well consider any recent M72 tube as being stolen. The military considers empty brass, the plastic stripper clips, the grenade rings, the cardboard boxes the stuff comes in, as salvage, and it is all supposed to be turned in.



An empty/inert rocket, or a replica of one, is also not a weapon. But a replica of a machine gun, such as you are describing Bob, would be considered a prohibited device if it closely mirrors a real weapon, and does not fire a projectile with enough force as to cause bodily harm. If it does fire with enough force (determined to be 366 feet per second....enough to take the eye out of a pig), then they are OK.



Seem a bit convoluted....you bet.
