Could the vehicle have belonged to the Australian Comforts Fund, a charity dedicated to supporting the welfare of fit and healthy soldiers, sailors and airmen (as compared to the Red Cross, who catered to the sick, wounded and captured).

This truck might need to be moved to the Welfare Vehicles thread!
