Default FMC 1945 No.4 trailer price

Wow! I must be really way out of touch with Aust prices if an unrestored, modified 8-cwt No.4 trailer with modified tail lamp brackets/modern tail lights, a spare wheel mounting under the rear, no spacer in the towing eye and a badly bent rear top edge is selling for $3,600!

I would think that would be a reasonable price for a finished restored example Mike, so probably top end but when you think jeeps are bringing upwards of $22k nowadays, the must have accessory trailer is not going to be seen for $750 anymore.

Here’s an auction result of one of those Australian Jeep trailers

Hanno!!!

Why didn't you tell us about that auction? Didn't know about it at all, and I could have gone very silly there. Not to worry, there were others who did so in my absence:

See Lots 222, 223, 225, 226, 227, 228, 440, 509, 510.

Going a little off the topic of trailers here: Had a look at that auction. First I saw a demilled mills bomb sold for $1100 AUD. WOW I thought. Then I see the next one went for $1500. Then the third one went for $1700.

If anyone want to trade a mills bomb for a 1/4 ton trailer, I am happy to oblige. I'll even throw in a second mills bomb to cover shipping.

Here in Canada, a nice Mills no36 is asking around $400, and usually very slow to sell at that price. But I have noticed online auctions recently where firearms parts and accessories are selling for ridiculous prices. Perhaps the results of covid and being housebound for much of the time. That, and the gun and militaria shows have not been happening.

Hi Tony, no worries, happy to have kept you out of trouble

As it happens, I only saw some screenshots of results passing by on FB. By golly, the man did amass a lot in his life! I see some prices reflecting the laws of demand and supply - many bidders resulting in a high price and the other way round.

But there were some bargains were to be had:

Ford Blitz project for 400 bucks - https://davidgsmith.hibid.com/lot/89...q=&ref=catalog

Bedford for 10 bucks! Must be worth more as scrap - https://davidgsmith.hibid.com/lot/89...q=&ref=catalog

With the Bofors and 25-pdr it looks to me Australia is catching up with markets in other geographies.

Default 25-pdr

The 25-pdr may be a British carriage with North Africa/Mid East service. I hope whoever bought it does some research before stripping it down to rebuild.

Quite a good price especially given how much is missing.

Mike

The Bedford is a 1930's W model with a Holden cab. The Bedford truck enthusiasts would be interested no doubt, but the auction details may not have reached all interested persons.

There was also this one: https://davidgsmith.hibid.com/lot/89...=catalog&q=229
Possibly lot 229 was bought as a spares donor for this one?

And it is a pampered F30/F60S Ambulance which has little remaining of the rear body, but appears to be excellent rust-free and straight metalwork. A Bargain! I wonder if it still had the engine and running gear?

Other than "Ford Blitz Military Wagon - Good Restoration Project" there was no description. I would have bought it for that price, very very good value.
