Default Seven Years Later...

I thought that I'd spotted this one some time ago and posted it here, but apparently not. From the Alamy Archive.

Default Late WOC1 in the UK

A very late WOC1 - Z4129898 from towards the end of the second contract V3730.

Arm of Service marking is clearly Royal Artillery. "46" falls within the block issued to Eastern Command for Coastal Artillery and Fixed Defences.

Default front wing extensions.

it is well illustrated in various photos that there were two types of modification to expand the width of the front wings to accept the 900x13 wheels. I know they were all produced within an effective eight month window but it seems there was possibly two trains of thought throughout the total period regarding 'cut and shunt' or fit 'spat' type extensions rather than being limited to a certain period during manufacture. My example being mid way through the first contract, this one well into the second contract
