Surplus vehicles were expensive and still are not cheap in the U.S. Think about how much a surplus Humvee is today .

Reported in July 1945: in the Detroit automotive newspaper - Willys has began production of the CJ civilian jeep, the projected price was $1250.

A August 1945 report has the base listed price at $1090.

The new CJ2 cost considerably more in Canada , a tariff on imported trucks was imposed .
