I think that the square looking US cooking facility is called:
M-1937 army field range. I have some repro manuals/instructions for there for sale through Groucho Publishing

There is quite a number of these availbale here in the Netherlands through Ries Groenewoud, who seems to buy them in France from Army disposal auctions.
