Would these be the same basic dimension for a Ford muffler?

Thanks,

I seem to remember the Chev mufflers are 5inch diameter and Ford 6inch (?) Length is about the same, but Ford had domed ends on the muffler, Chev flat ends as per Johns picture. I think there are some pics of the Ford mufflers on the servicepub CD rom.

Alex,

Basic dimensions shown on the sticker of the replacement muffler Rob posted are nearly right for Ford (6" diameter, 18" length, 2" inlet and 1-5/8" outlet pipes).

I'm not too concerned about original domed ends etc. One can buy "Ford script" mufflers etc., but those things come at a price!
