Morris Tailights .. rare maybe !

I've only seen these taillights in the Morris CS8 and PU manuals .. but I've come across a few for sale .. genuine NOS, not repro . Rubbolite No. 5 . They are similar to the early DND Canadian taillights, which I recall seeing boxes of at places like Camberwell and Mitcham back in the 70's.

Did any other British wartime vehicle use them ? Or was it a unique Morris only fitment .

Bren carriers used a similar shaped rubber with the lens, but only mounted at the back. No special side mount.

The two most commonly used rear lights during the war were the Rubbolite No.2 (see picture) and later the Lucas Type L/WD/T1.

Early war soft skin vehicles used a variety of various patterns and the drivers hand books for those particular contracts normally give details.

The Canadian pattern is very close to the Rubbolite No.2 and I used them on my Humber Armoured Car. Luckily Dirk stills has stocks of them.

So the rubbolite fixture was a generic thing by the sound of it .

BTW those NOS examples I mentioned are 17 pounds each.. too rich for me with the greedy bank exchange and postage too.
