Posts 1403, 1408 & 1410 tell the story.

Unfortunately it can be easy to misunderstand the intent and sentiment in black and white words on the internet where we don't see the body language, nor the tone. Just the seemingly harsh words.

You are so right Allan, the printed word is a poor substitute for personal contact and even minor cultural differences can cause things to blow up in your face. It must be made so much more difficult if the conversation is not in your native tongue. Good will from all parties involved has to be a given, that's what oils the wheels.

Dear MLU members,

All I did was ask Tony why he posts everything in the same thread? Rather than one long facebook-type blurb / blog by each member, this forum is set up and maintained (at great expense) along the lines of sub-forums so we have a place for most if not all subjects: vehicles, restorations, for sale & wanted, personal matters etc. etc. This version of the MLU forum has been running since 2003 (yes, before this forum went live we had another one) using this format and is liked by many people across the globe.

Maybe my question was lost in translation, but still I would expect a different reaction than being stung by a bee - though I must admit I underestimate the Australian wildlife

As a moderator it is quite a job to keep threads aligned and in the right sub-forums, re-formatting posts to make them more readable, fixing broken picture links, etc, etc. We spend much of our spare time keeping the information as much as accessible as possible, and by bundling wildly varying subjects in one single thread, it makes it a nightmare finding back very useful information. Sharing information in an easily retrievable format is the prime goal of MLU.

Off my soapbox now. Can anyone with a personal relationship ask Tony to come back, please?

Thanks,
Hanno

I have asked Tony to come back Hanno and I won't relate exactly what his reply was but he told me the Blitz was on the back burner for now for reasons he said he would not get into. I get the feeling that it has been a multitude of things rather then just any offence (if any was taken) at anyone's comments/actions on MLU.

Don't worry I will continue to work on getting him posting again

Because of health issues Tony's Blitz may not be finished. He may even sell what he has if he can't continue when cooler weather comes next winter.
Tony wishes to thank all members who have encouraged him and sent messages when Bryce joined the army. Bryce is doing well and should march out towards the end of January if the present schedule is maintained.
For his own personal reasons Tony will not be back on MLU, though he values friendships made through the forum.

Default Sorry to hear this

Thanks for letting us know Robert.

That's sad to hear, but I'm sure I speak for the MLU membership here in wishing Tony all the best for his health and for him to be encouraged through this to continue with his project and enjoy the fruits of his labour.
