Looks like the traverse/elevation hand wheel from a field gun carriage (just the handwheel, not the rest - see previous post by Colin)
Is there a part number on it? Mike Last edited by Mike Cecil; 04-07-20 at 16:37. |

Ok thanks for the info, so this is a custom pice for another application then. I was taking it for granted that it was a pice off a carrier.
I’m thinking my dad would have made it some something he needed it for. I have found all kinds of different things he made years ago using pieces off his carrier. Was no Walmart back then and living in the country was not a quick trip to your parts store so home made was only choice. The best thing he made was a half track. He took a 1947 Mercury 2 ton and cut the frame shorter, turned front axel over for more clearance. Made a set of tracks out of carrier tracks for it using the 2 road wheels and top idler. Tracks are assembly not much bigger then the modern ATV tracks. I tell you did that truck go places. I will have to look closer at it tomorrow to see if there is any more numbers on it. Once again thanks for the information Eric |

It would be great to see a photo of the truck....
My grandfather built a compressor for paint spraying using what turned out to be the tire pump for a Staghound armoured car and an air brake reservoir from a truck. David |
